Girls soccer | Lindsey Oldshue, Carolyn Nash lift Glenbrook South to Pepsi Showdown victory over Fenwick

Glenbrook South was in need of a win Thursday afternoon in River Forest.
After posting a 24-6-4 record in 2010, the Titans lost three of their first four games to start this season. Glenbrook South coach Seong Ha hopes his team's 2-0 victory over Fenwick in the second round of the Pepsi Showdown will jump-start his squad's confidence.
"This win will help us a lot," said Ha, whose team is the No. 11 seed in the 40-team tournament. "We needed to match Fenwick's intensity, and we did. Our defense did a nice job frustrating them, and it feels good to come away with a win against a quality team."
Lindsey Oldshue and Carolyn Nash scored for Glenbrook South (2-3), which will face the winner of the game between Mundelein and Jacobs in a Sweet 16 game Saturday at Olympic Park in Schaumburg. A year ago, the Titans advanced to the title game at Toyota Park and fell to Barrington.
"We've had some rough patches early this year," said Oldshue, who scored off an Ally Wojick restart with five minutes to play in the opening half. "We just need to keep improving. We did well in this tournament last year, and we expect to do the same this year."
Nina Kodros recorded the assist on Nash's goal midway through the second half to put the contest away. Kelly McConnell and Jessica Campobasso combined to share the shutout in goal for the Titans.
"We have a lot of skill and talent, but we're starting to realize that doesn't matter if you don't perform on the field," said Fenwick coach Rob Watson, whose team dropped to 5-4-1 overall and is winless in five of its last seven matches. "Talk is cheap, so we need to start playing consistent for 80 minutes. There is some frustration setting in, but we have to stay positive."
